Sydney Makela, PA
Sydney is a board-certified Physician Assistant who is passionate about helping patients achieve lasting health through a personalized, integrative approach to care. She believes in identifying and addressing the root causes of illness while empowering patients to take an active role in their health journey.
Sydney earned her Master of Physician Assistant Studies from Rush University in Chicago, where she received the Clinical Excellence Award. She graduated cum laude from Illinois State University with a Bachelor of Science degree. Her clinical training included family medicine, internal medicine, sleep medicine, dermatology, women's health, behavioral health, and surgical specialties.
Before becoming a Physician Assistant, Sydney gained valuable experience in orthopedics and allergy/immunology and served in leadership roles within memory care and senior living. These experiences strengthened her compassionate, patient-centered philosophy and deepened her commitment to creating individualized treatment plans that support long-term health.
Sydney has a special interest in integrative and preventive medicine, with a focus on lifestyle optimization, metabolic health, hormone balance, nutrition, and patient education. She enjoys partnering with patients to improve energy, optimize overall health, and create sustainable lifestyle changes that support long-term wellness. Her goal is to ensure every patient feels heard, respected, and empowered with the knowledge and tools needed to achieve their health goals.
Outside of the clinic, Sydney enjoys spending time with her fiancé, family, and friends. She loves traveling, cooking, and staying active through running and strength training.
